The Automated Software Engineering (ASE) Research group led by Dr. Tao Xie develops automated techniques and tools for improving software dependability and productivity by exploiting dynamic program analysis, static program analysis, data mining, machine learning, constraint solving, theorem proving, model checking, and software visualization. The group is primarily known for its leading work on software engineering (software testing and analysis and software analytics) and educational technology. The group has been very productive in producing high-quality research publications, collaborating with industry (such as Microsoft Research, Redmond and Asia), and producing impact on industry. The group has a group blog, which includes thoughts on advising students and conducting research, and an REU blog, which describes undergraduate students' activities. The group has a Facebook Page. The lab for the group is located at 2241 EB II.
