The Automated Software Engineering (ASE) Research group led by Dr. Tao Xie develops automated techniques and tools for improving software dependability and productivity by exploiting dynamic program analysis, static program analysis, data mining, machine learning, constraint solving, theorem proving, model checking, and software visualization. The group is primarily known for its leading work on automated software testing and mining software engineering data. The group has been very productive in producing high-quality research publications, collaborating with industry (such as Microsoft Research and IBM), and producing impact on industry. The group has a group blog, which includes thoughts on advising students and conducting research, and an REU blog, which describes undergraduate students' activities.
